When is it alright to insult someone with a racist epithet? Is it in the name of comedy, for example when Bernard Manning R.I.P. performed his act? According to most of the media, it is not.
So why is it that ITV think it is OK for Trevor McDonald to refer to Bernard Manning as a white Bastard? In a skit that makes fun of Bernard Manning being a racist, Trevor McDonald commits a racist act. How clever, humour and hypocrisy all rolled into one.
One of the reasons given for the removal of the contestant from the BB house was that she used a racist word which insulted all black people. Is the phrase White Bastard not offensive to all white people?
I trust the media and establishment will roundly condemn Sir Trevor's comments lest the general public start to believe that racism is treated as a one way street in this country.
What a shame that Trevor McDonald has decided wreck an otherwise distinguished career with this pathetic racist remark.
